  1. Hi there, I was wondering if any goalscoring records have been kept from the mid eighties to early nineties, I used to play for Kings Heath Cross Guns and Kings heath station, big rivals were Arden Oak, Perry Bar RBL, Witton Wanderers, Centurian Celtic, Hare and Hounds Rednal, happy days, great games of footie againtst this lot and the fights were almost as enjoyable (only joking) I once scored 72 goals in a season, Can't remember what year, but regularly bagged between 25 and 40, wouldn't mind seeing how I compared to the other strikers of the day.

Is it true that Lea Hall won an appeal earlier in the week and will be re-enstated into the Coronation league for the start of the season?

  34. Hi all in the Birmingham Coronation League.
I am looking for a friendly for my team as we will be in birmingham on the weekend of the 7th/8th August 2010.
We always try every season to play a team away from Grimsby and this year we were looking at Birmingham.
We are a well run team and currently play in Division 5 of the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Sunday League.
If any team is interested in giving us the oppurtunity to play this friendly then please get in touch with me at djayc2104@yahoo.co.uk. We would also offer to share costs for pitch and referee fee's
I am originally from birmingham so I know my way around.
    Many Thanks

    thanks,

    Perry - The York.

(Posted on 2010-06-16 13:54:00 by Perry Robinson)
  37. I cant see how the league can refuse you signing any player. Provided they aren't under any county FA ban's ofcourse!

(Posted on 2010-06-15 20:25:00 by Anon)
  38. Surely you cant sign players from The York / Lea Hall next season, otherwise what was the point of throwing the teams out the league?! That would mean they could all re-sign for another team and the league would have achieved nothing!

(Posted on 2010-06-15 14:51:00 by Colin)
  39. Info please - Can I sign a player from The York for next season?

  60. I'm 36 and playing for Lynam "the cup specialists". We've got a good range from 18 up to 38. It's fine as long as you put in the training.

(Posted on 2010-05-18 15:11:00 by cedd)
  61. Arbree- I don't think 36 is over the hill for sunday league football, fitness shouldn't be a problem either as most people on a sunday morning wreak of booze and are struggling from the night before. Every team could do with an old head or 2 though!

(Posted on 2010-05-18 15:01:00 by Gandolf)

  67. I acknowledge that I didn't realise just how much goes on behind the scenes and I do appreciate all the efforts by the fixture secretary and referee's secretary to rearrange all the unprecedented outstanding games postponed due to the weather...especially in consideration of the limited availability of parks and school pitches. This is something that many players may not appreciate and thank the league for ensuring provision to get the games re-arranged under such difficult circumstances. After all players want to play....two ot three games per week may have been hard but we still want to play.... thanks again

  90. Webmaster - This is the fifth time of trying to write a response but sadly everytime i have tried it has sent me back to the home page. Your response to my email is a well written statement which has cleared up several issues that i had raised in earlier emails. For this i thank you. I suppose i was being extremely selfish when i was expecting more but with what you say the fixtures, leagues and timing etc. i feel i am now more aware of why certain cases are like this. Thank you for assisting me on these issues. Once again i apologise for any trouble i have caused but with your help i feel i am now able to let this matter lie. Many thanks

  91. Lee Hawkins - Lee, As intimated in an earlier reply there is understanding throughout the Committee on how difficult it is to play so many games during a small space of time, unfortunately the situation with the weather and the amount of Sundays that were lost were always going to mean a heavy midweek schedule. I am not privvy to the way the fixtures are completed, all as I can say with a degree of certainty is that individuals like Kevin Dutton and Tony Brueton have spent many hours working with the council and other Sunday Leagues to get the best fit for the Coronation League. There may well have been dates that looked available, however these may have been taken by other leagues?

I would also mention the time spent by Gary Bagnall and the leagues referees in attempting to get all the midweek fixtures covered. Obviously the people I have mentioned do it because of the committment they have to the league. You may feel aggrieved, however on reflection I would hope that you consider your comments regarding the league and this was their attempt to stop you winning the league is some way off the mark?

The best way to resolve a problem is to discuss the matter with the appropriate Committee member, if your post is the first anyone on the Committee has heard of the problems this has casued you, then they have not been given the opportunity to try and help resolve it.

I guess the general feeling amongst many clubs is how difficult this period is, but it is a situation repeated throughout Saturday and Sunday football effecting all leagues in Birmingham. Other leagues in previous seasons have taken the option of cancelling cup competitions to help with the back log, however this is something that this leagues Committee feel is an absolute last resort and make every effort for all competitions complete.

Possibly the fixtures could have been tweaked slightly, I really dont know. However the fixtures were never done in such a way to make life difficult for one particular team and I would again suggest that a word when the situation was first realised would have been the best course of action.

  92. Webmaster- i am not saying that with the loss of dates due to inclement weather that all fixturres were not going to struggle. What i am saying is that by time of our last game we will have played 8 games in 14 days. The other teams you have mentioned have been given an extra 5 match days to complete their fixtures!!! i have viewed the mid week fixtures and have found dates where we could have played only one midweek game rather then two in such a hurried state!!! all i am asking is why us when no other team in our league has to do it??? i am ot saying we were able to win the league this has always been A very fun, competitive and enjoyable division but it was Crusaders ( who have been consistently good)to lose not ours! with regards to 28th March unfortunately it was my sons christening and due to other commitments was the only time i could book. With two family members in my team and two other lads within our club as god parents we were unable to complete the fixture. My fault completely and i have apologised several times to my lads for this as they all wanted to play an enjoyable game against a good bunch of lads like moor lane!! Also i have read Mr eggar's statements above this and i am not abusing teams, players or individuals. If i am i am genuinely sorry and i mean no harm sorry. I am airing grievances though but not about an individual but a situation. I am simply opening a discussion with yourselves. Perhaps i should contact people personally but wanted to see how others have felt and Hampton is a team who also feel aggrieved. We know the weather is not to your fault but our fixture pile up in comparison to other teams is and that is all i wanted to say!! No offence meant Sir/ Madam. Just my personal opinion

  94. Lee Hawkins - You have made two posts today, in both you suggest that the league are doing everything in their power to stop your club from winning your respective division due to your hectic midweek schedule. It does appear that you are not helping yourselves however by not being able to field a team on SUNDAY 28th March against one of your fellow title contenders and handing them 3 points, this is obviously two weeks BEFORE the midweek games were due to start. Regards, Webmaster

  95. I cant see how its the leagues fault that most teams are now playing midweek games. The weather this season has been as bad as i can remember. As for starting the season earlier i see no point, the redditch and bromsgrove leagues both started a month earlier than the coronation league and are still playing loads of midweek games.

  96. Hampton B - How can the league learn from this? The facts are clear, we have lost 10 Sundays due to the poor weather. How would we operate differently next season as a learning? Start the season in July? The league has never extended a further two or three weeks, so I am not sure where that statistic comes from? Webmaster

  97. Lee Hawkins - You raise several points, all of which you should have raised with the respective Committee member on reciept of your fixtures. I would point out however that the Committee does not favour ANY clubs. You state that no other team has a fixture schedule like this in your division - Your club has had 8 games scheduled throughout April. Crusaders have had 11, Shirley Celtic have had 9, Hampton A have had 9, Star have had 7, Moor Lane have had 7, Greenwood have had 7, Windermere have had 7, therefore I fail to see why you feel your club has been dealt such a bad hand? Yes I agree the fixture schedule during April is not ideal, however it is due to the FACT we have lost 10 Sundays during the season due to inclement weather. The fixtures need to be played by the end of April as the parks pitches are only available untul April 26th (two weeks extension agreed between the fixtures Secretary and the council as they were due to close on the 12th). I would ask, what could the committee have done differently to ensure fixtures were completed by the end of April? Webmaster

  98. Peter - Regarding your query with potential unregistered players playing in a game against you, could you please ask your club secretary to formally raise this issue in writing to Tony Brueton - The General League. Thanks Webmaster
